Engagement shoots - or couple photoshoots - are a great way to get to know your chosen photographers, months before your big day. They’re also the perfect chance to create memories and an archive of romantic imagery that you can use in your wedding website, save the dates, thank you cards. Bonus points if they’re fun and a stroll in the park, like this wonderful afternoon that we got to spend with our 2026 couple L&J.

We are no strangers to the beauty of this unique Tuscan hamlet, just a few miles south of Florence and somehow still relatively untouched by mass tourism (and we hope it stays that way!). Having had the chance of shooting a destination elopement in Certaldo in 2019 we knew exactly what this charming small town had to offer. Nevertheless, as soon as we stepped foot onto its cobbled streets and caught sight of the its red bricks buildings we were blown away and so were our lovely couple L&J.

This lovely young couple have chosen Tuscany for their destination wedding in 2026 which we will have the pleasure of shooting, together with a team of trusted Tuscan vendors headed by wedding planner Neve of Wed In Florence. So how not to fall in love with Certaldo Alto? On this occasion, we chose a late afternoon meeting time to make sure we could capture all the beauty of a summer sunset in Tuscany. As a result our pictures were bathed in the most perfect natural golden glow, just what we were looking for!

The architecture in Certaldo Alto mixes all the elements of traditional Tuscan buildings with evident traces of its Medieval past. The breathtaking sight of its Palazzo Pretorio crowns a captivating maze of alleyways and real Tuscan homes, small piazzas and cozy balconies, and everywhere is simply just picture perfect. In fact, the way we like to take things is to just walk around and explore the village with our couples, letting ourselves feel the moment and take photographs wherever inspiration strikes. L&J decided to match their outfits to the chosen colour palette for their destination wedding in Tuscany in 2026: can you guess which one it is?

After exploring the village for little over an hour we decided it was time for a change of scenery. That’s when we headed off to explore the surrounding areas and found the most perfect fields located just a couple of minutes away from the old city centre. This is where our couple photoshoot came to an end, with a spectacular series of portraits in a field of golden tall grass and a stunning view on the medieval skyline of Certaldo Alto. The sun was setting in the most perfect way, painting the scene with warm, earthy colours. This is what Tuscany does best, after all, isn’t it? This is the privilege of a destination wedding photographer in Tuscany: showing the real beauty and the hidden gems of our homeland to international couples seeking to celebrate their love here.

As we parted ways, we knew we couldn’t wait to meet them again next year on the day of their wedding! We were quite happy with the work we produced, and the couple were as well. Here’s what they had to say upon receiving these pictures:

”Wow these photos are absolutely amazing! We both love them, they are so good! You've captured exactly the vibe we we thinking perfectly! […] It was so lovely to meet you too, we really enjoyed it and it has gotten us even more excited for the wedding!”

This beautiful afternoon we shared will bring even more excitement and memories to their big day. If you’re planning a destination wedding in Tuscany or elsewhere in Italy, we warmly recommend booking an engagement shoot with your wedding photographer.
